Dear subscribers and followers,
I find myself in a terrible position. I have two friends who are ill. One of them is French, and lives in Belgium. She is cared for by Belgium’s health service. It is often described as the best in the world. She is in hospital and tomorrow I will visit her.
The other lives in The Gambia. Those with long memories may remember me issuing appeals in his behalf previously. This time, it concerns “an urgent need for medical assistance”.
He writes: Brother Graham, It’s a operation i have to do Senegal Dakar on the side of my mouth something is there is disease now can’t open my mouth it’s goes down to my neck now brother Graham can’t talk… you alone cannot do it please i will like you to help me out with GoFundme please can get donations can do the operation this going up to my head an nick please if you see my message brother Graham, am in critical condition now 😭 you can show my picture to the GoFundme donate when we share it to friends family to worker places can get support… 😭😭🙏🙏
The GoFundMe Abs refers to was an appeal I launched previously, but it’s been deleted. Remitly is probably the best way to help him.
I find myself with financial commitments that preclude my assisting him on this occasion - overdrawn on all accounts, a zero-balance deadline in August, VAT to pay, property tax and legal fees. Unfortunately not all of the problems of Africa and the Middle East are in Gaza: some crises are in Belgium.
Do you think you could in any way help him? Please. Anything.
I give you his telephone number below. He is on WhatsApp. Now, I cannot hold my hand in the fire and guarantee that this is not a scam. Abs and I have known each other for a number of years. He asks politely for assistance when he can’t cope. I’ve bought food and given money and a deep freezer in the past. He is always effusively grateful.
If you discover that his telephone number is associated online with scam operations, please tell me. I don’t think it’s the case, but if you find that out, then inform me.
He is seriously ill and I am playing pass the parcel with a man’s health and maybe his life. He has a family of five brothers, sisters, a nephew and his old mum to care for. He is the link that prevents them starving. I have no choice but to ask you, I cannot help him myself.
The apps Remitly or Baluwo should be able to intervene to make a cash contribution. If you’re moved to help him - and me - his details are:
Name... ABDOURAHMAN NGUM
Country... GAMBIA
Town... BRIKAMA NEMA
City... BANJUL
Tel. ... 2145714
Thank you. (Registering with these apps can be a pain in the neck. That’s what Abs has, more or less. I’m sorry.)
Graham
