The Democratic Party’s National Conference, over in America, has been hailed (by its sympathisers) as a huge success. The word is barn-storming. Mr Obama barn-stormed; Mr Walz barn-stormed; and, of course, Ms Harris barn-stormed. There was so much barn-storming that all the conference needed to top it off would have been Waldo Pepper.
