Radical religion
Always a step behind
Image: always a step behind, right to the bitter end.
When I studied in Germany, the lady who organised practical things for my study group once uttered her disdain for Turkish couples, where the wife clearly walked a pace behind her husband. I asked her whether she was an admirer of the British Queen, and her face broke into a broad smile—why, of course she was.
I then asked her whether she harbours the same level of disdain for Prince Philip, who always ... walked a pace behind his wife. She said the cases were entirely different, but I cannot recall the difference she alluded to. I think it had something to do with tradition, custom, protocol, maybe even respect. That kind of thing. In both cases.
I have studied “radical Christianity”.

I reckon you're right about that!
