So.
Everything anyone says these days begins with “so.” “So” used to mean “therefore.” “Consequentially.” “As a result.” And, way back in my youth, “a needle pulling thread.”
“What’s your name?”
“So, my name is Graham.”
“Why do you say ‘So, my name is Graham’?”
“So, I don’t know. Doesn’t everyone?”
“What would you say if your name being Graham was the outcome of a logical sequence of thinking that resulted in your name being Graham?”
“So, then I would say, ‘Therefore, my name is Graham.’”
“Ah, so.”
Anyway, so.
What do you call a Christian who believes in Mohammed? And who believes in the Shiva, and in Budda? Is it possible to believe in them all? And in Yahweh?
No doubt, there’s some wag out there, already yelling, “Confused.” Or some wise person yelling, “Ecumenical.”
The right answer is: you call him whatever you want to call him. You’re the one doing the calling. Not him.
