By "selling notoriously unreliable aircraft", Boeing is in danger of squandering the unquestioning faith and reliance that was once justifiably invested in it by operator and passenger alike; but, given its market power, it will not lose too much business as a result. What it will do instead is pass to the airlines the duty of inculcating that faith and reliance, for it is they who will become answerable for "*purchasing* notoriously unreliable aircraft."
