Spot on as usual, Graham. And yes, I remember Roman Holiday well, it was among my favorites, I had it on a DVD until I got so angry at "TV's lying reporters" I had my cable disconnected and gave away my large collection of DVD's and my TV and DVD player.
How very kind of you to say that, Fay, thank you. I wish I were wrong.
I knew another Canadian (d'origine) once who announced - nay proclaimed when I happened to want to heat something up in his kitchen - that he had sold his microwave oven. Done with it, gone, don't need that, finito.
A while later, I saw that a brand new microwave oven had appeared in his very large, uncluttered kitchen for which you'd need roller-skates to get from the larder to the sink. A moral?
By the way I just watched Jack Lemmon's "How to Murder Your Wife" (1960) on DVD on the computer (handy tip for you - everything you had is available on YouTube. Yes, everything). Do you know, I don't think they could make a film like that today!
