There happens to be an easier way to obtain the Presidency while not standing for election, the handy dandy Amendment 25 Section 4. allows the Vice President to assume the office of President when the veep and a majority of the cabinet or department heads declare the President unfit for office. It is very evident to all that trump is well into dementia, even the Democrats would have to agree. Personally I expect this to occur in the first two months (January 21, 2025 to March 20, 2025

Well, whether that's "easier" than shooting him (the Nepalese solution) is up for grabs, but I hear your theory with interest.

Thanks Graham. I have long preferred our representative republican over parliamentarian for as practiced in many European Governments, but I am now beginning to recognize that you at least are less likely to fall into a dictatorship like we just did.

Since 1215, the task has been to wrest power from absolute kings, and to bestow it on the wrestlers. From kings, to barons, to the landed gentry, to all men, to women, to persons of lower age - 23, 21, 18, 16. And now we have reached an interesting turning point: the persons of lower age, the women, the men, the landed gentry and the barons have just voted ... for an absolute king.

I bet you Lincoln didn't foresee that when he was talking about government of the people, by the people, for the people.

Agreed, Graham. No one foresaw this, including most Americans and Democrats. Project 2025 while it is too long (900 + pages) and boring as hell, is a well laid out 180 day plan for turning the United States from a democratically run Representative Republic to a "National Christian" [which they do state] fascist dictatorship [which they don't sate out loud but is implied with every word].

Indeed. Imagine this: JD Vance walks up to DJ Trump in full and patent public view, pulls out a gun and shoots the man dead. Mr Trump gets carted off to the morgue, and Mr Vance to jail, where the sheriff is poised to read him his constitutional rights, next to whom stands the Chief Justice, ready for him to swear the oath of presidential office.

That sounds extreme, and it is extreme, but that is what would happen. Being a convicted murderer is no object to being the president. And, like the king of Nepal, even if he procured Trump's demise himself, he would still be the president. There is no turpitude that will debar an individual from that office, except the insurrection provision in the constitution.

And, what is more, we now we have a clear signal from the highest court, that the president is immune. The American vice-presidency has become a position that affords an opportunity to accede to the highest office of the land by criminal means and still guarantee that it works, whereupon all further acts are immune from prosecution. Tell me, what king would design a path of succession like that?

Vance doesn't have to kill trump. All he needs to do is invoke Amendment 25 which states, in effect, if the President is unable to perform his duties the vice President and a majority of cabinet members can declare hi unfit for office and the VP becomes President. no messy blood to clean up. After hearing some of trump's ramblings no one in this country could deny dementia.
