Oh, I'm not sure that there is no adventure in the climb. But it's not a great as Hillary's was. Hillary and Tenzing knew it could be done, but they had no proof until they did it.
The equipment was a mile off what they have today. The danger doesn't reduce with the security, however. It's still there. There's just less chance of succumbing to it. Our perceptions of danger are that it can be remedied with security, but security often just increases our propensity to challenge danger, if only because danger thrills us.
I greatly admire mountaineers, and I think they're as daft as brushes, at the same time.
