Give up what? Wanting to strive against injustice?
Who, do you think, are ICE? The American immigration force? Why do you think they wear masks, carry no ID, drive anonymised cars and vans?
Surely if the object is to enforce the law, regardless of how crassly they want to do that, they would present credentials. Show that they are enforcers of law. The fact they don't says to me loud and clear that they are in fact thugs. Probably Oath Keepers or Proud Boys (because, to be honest, we hear nothing about those groups now), reassigned to do the government's "execution" work.
Now, I have no way to prove that, but suppose I was an immigrant, legally living in the US and currently afraid to attend court hearings or present myself at any official bureau because of the actions of ICE. Should I give up? Should self-deport? Should I deploy evasive tactics? Should I react to the injustice by minimising the chance I will be caught in its web?
Surely human nature is there to never give up? I sometimes wonder about those who launched themselves from the WTC rather than be burned alive. Did they give up? Or did they choose the better exit?
I wonder when’s that moment when you simply give up? When you say: all options have been exhausted, there’s nothing to do anymore.
